Good film that is nicely worked out by the story. Unfortunately I found the film to start a bit too stiff, which is why it is not all great. But this film certainly has its charm and the werewolf looks very okay. 3.0.

A few years before the much better known The Wolf Man, Universal Pictures released 'Werewolf of London'. A film that I personally find at least as strong as its successor.
Henry Hull convincingly plays the tormented doctor who realizes that every full moon he turns into a werewolf and 'must' kill.
The dramatic aspect of this also comes across well, as his relationship with his wife (played by Valerie Hobson) seems natural (for a relationship from that time period at least).
I also think it's cool that they approach this a little differently in this film by making it a given that he will kill someone dear to him out of instinct. As far as I can remember, in the other films it was often still accidental, even though in practically every other well-known werewolf film the wife or girlfriend has to take on the victim role.
Furthermore, the humor in this film is also quite spot on. I especially found the scenes with the two old roommates quite funny.
In my opinion, this is at least as much of a classic as The Wolf Man and I can recommend it to fans of the classic Universal monster films.

A story that has been filmed many times, but I found this version about a scientist who is attacked by a werewolf in Tibet and therefore begins to change himself, rather disappointing. I couldn't immediately remember the common thread with the flower from other films, so this was a reasonable addition. But I found the story itself rather boring and not very exciting. In terms of atmosphere, I was also disappointed although on the evening that Dr. Glendon murders an unknown girl on the street that was a fairly atmospheric scene. On the other hand, I found the transformation of Dr. Glendon one of the few highlights.
