I really enjoyed this. Bava has paid close attention to the costumes and sets. In that visual aspect, Bava is not much inferior to an average Hammer release from that period.
The slightly misty cemetery, the cobweb-laden old rooms of the castle. It looks great visually.
In addition, the man manages to sometimes make the scenes with the young Melissa quite suspenseful. Especially the scenes in which Melissa appears in front of a window are sometimes quite creepy.
All these factors clearly show that this was Bava's field of expertise. This is simply very strong and attractively designed.
Partly due to the use of color, it is clear to see where Argento got his inspiration from.
A beautiful, atmospheric and gothic film that has clearly had an impact on film history.
A nice experience for fans of gothic horrors.

Atmospheric horror that mainly relies on the sets and other beautiful visual aspects. The cast also knows how to add value to the film through credible roles. Unfortunately, the scenario is not that interesting and lacks suspense. The whole thing could also have been a bit more mysterious. 6.5/10

Kill, Baby... Kill! is a particularly atmospheric Gothic Horror film by the Italian Horror master Mario Bava. The film tells the story of a small village in the grip of a curse. A little girl's ghost claims more and more victims. A doctor investigates.

The film is beautiful with Bava's usual impressionistic use of color and has some very nice shots. Melissa was very strongly portrayed and came across as quite creepy. The music was also very strong, although I do have the feeling that Bava is recycling his own music. I have heard Carlo Rustichelli's music before in The Whip and the Body.

The film appears a bit cheaper than, for example, Black Sunday or The Whip and the Body, logical because halfway through the producers ran out of budget, after which Bava and the cast decided to to finish the film for nothing (what dedication!). It certainly didn't look bad, but I didn't think the Mediterranean ruins really fit the Austro-Hungarian names of the characters in the film.

Kill, Baby... Kill! was an entertaining and atmospheric film, but although it has an original premise for a Gothic horror from the 60s, the story was not really well developed. Ultimately, I thought it became a bit boring at times and the denouement was not very impressive. Certainly not a bad film.
