"First they made him dangerous. Then they made him mad."
You don't remember anything. This is because you have just been brought back from the dead by your wife (Haley Bennett). She tells you that your name is Henry and that you are now a cyborg. Five minutes later, your wife is kidnapped. By who? His name is Akan (Danila Kozlovsky), a psychotic tyrant with telekinetic powers and an army of mercenaries. You are in Moscow, a city you don't know and where everyone wants you dead. Everyone except a mysterious British dude named Jimmy (Sharlto Copley). He may be a friend.

Awesome!!!! One wild rollercoaster ride seen from a first person perspective. And it works!!
The action is unparalleled and practically non-stop and I laughed so hard at Sharlto Copley's completely freaked out role(s). What a great actor that is!
Ultra-violent in a comic book way, nice and bloody and gross and the fact that most of it takes place in Moscow makes it even funnier since there is always a crazy Russian lurking who is after Henry has been targeting.
Personally, I had no problems at all with the jerky image (everything can be seen and followed) and if it is there, it is not disturbing, but rather effective. In the sense that it only reinforces the madness and chaos. What suits a movie like this...
For me one of the most surprising action films of recent years. Super!!!

Remains very strong when revised.
Few movies do what Hardcore Henry does. No grandiose or unnecessarily complicated story, no concessions, just pounding and ramming. Everything on the effect, and that is great. Had expected the new to be a bit off, but there is no comparison material. This keeps HH feeling fresh and does not lose its strength.
4.5* remain well deserved.

I thought this film would be something for me, the necessary action in a somewhat different approach with a lot of flashy images. It reminds me of first person shooters, but I'm not really into games at all, so I'm not much into it either. The approach may be original, but in terms of action and entertainment I don't see much fun in it. Then give me John Wick or Crank for example.
