Mutter Küsters' Fahrt zum Himmel plot
A worker runs amok in the factory and then kills his boss before killing himself. This leads to a media hysteria in which the widow Emma Küsters becomes the center of attention and is portrayed by the "right" as a freak and by the "left" as a symbol in the fight against oppression. The communists then abuse the widow for the sake of their propaganda cart and then abandon her.
