The Emperor's Wife plot

"A fairy tale for grown ups."

Somewhere in a faraway land lives an emperor. If his wife does not bear a son within seven years of marriage, the emperor may find another woman who can. After six years of marriage, the empress has not yet given birth to a son. The emperor and his chamberlain go in search of a young virgin to replace the empress. Sabah is the chosen one and she is locked up in the secret wing of the palace. The Chamberlain falls for Sabah despite her rebelliousness and slowly but surely the Empress discovers the conspiracy and tries to play the Emperor and Chamberlain off against each other.
