Loser plot
"Dare to be different."
Loser Paul moves from the countryside to New York to study. The transition is not easy: he has no friends, and his roommates are constantly making fun of him. Then he meets Dora, who is having an affair with a university professor. He falls in love.

Nice teen movie by Amy Heckerling. Loser is certainly not as good as Clueless, but the film has its fun moments and the acting of Biggs, Suvari, Kinnear and Orth is especially strong. The script does lack that Clueless edge, and at many moments it all flows on a bit too quietly. Loser is no different from countless other teen films, and the inspired play of the actors can't change that either. The music is well chosen.

Comfortable.
Typical food that catches on on a late Saturday night. Loser therefore pretends to be little more than a real comedy film that eventually takes some side roads to romance. It is striking, however, that the two main characters remain separated from each other for quite some time.
Biggs fits very well in these kinds of movies. We all know what kind of movies made him big, and Loser isn't really left out in that area. Suvari is a bit less strong, but it is also hard for her to deny that these kinds of films were the kind that made her great. Only a little less strong in the area of comedy.
As a film itself it runs smoothly and the humor is especially rude enough to keep up with the tone of the film. It's not really funny, but it's going well. Get the idea that Heckerling felt at home in the director's chair for these kinds of films. In any case, I had a great time, but I will probably remember very little about the film three days later.
