Grijpstra & De Gier plot

The detectives Grijpstra and De Gier are sent to the Haarlemmer Houttuinen, where a man has apparently hanged himself, in a center for Eastern meditation. With the determination that it really was a suicide, the case seems closed, but the same night an attempt is made to break in. The tracks soon lead to a dead end, suspecting everyone who has had anything to do with the corpse. After the book 'The Corpse in the Haarlemmer Houttuinen' by Jan-Willem van de Wetering.

Had seen it before. Last night again and I think it's quite a nice Dutch film. There were a few things in the movie that I didn't like. The sound was not very good, and I often had to struggle to understand what was being said. Also, some things were very predictable. And of course the film is very outdated, and therefore often comes across a bit wooden. Nevertheless, the film does contain some good acting by Rutger Hauer and Rijk de Gooyer, but the film is carried by these two because I thought some of the other actors came across badly. Fortunately, the film is not really boring, and you are still curious about the denouement. Although the ending could have been a little better in my opinion. Just a simple, yet entertaining movie. A tight one:

3*

Excellent entertaining police film from days gone by with a cast of top stars from that time.

And with a lot of functional nakedness as usual in the Dutch (and many other nationalities) film of that time.

We've got a dead one here, send the whole thing.

Still a very well-known title and had I seen this before...? I am probably confused with Murder in Ecstasy by Baantjer. The numbers predicted little good in advance and that turned out to be quite good. This movie is fine to skip.

It doesn't start wrong. Grijpstra and de Gier as a sarcastic duo, yet two heavyweights as actors in the form of Hauer and De Gooijer who initially attract attention, the surroundings in the shape of Amsterdam with a beautiful image of the time, of course here and there typically Dutch and a mysterious atmosphere. Not to mention the many famous people in the form of Jones, Jaap Stobbe, Van Ammelrooy and Frederik de Groot, just to name a few.

The talking mouth, every time the switchboard seeks contact, is not an irritation point at first, but at some point it becomes. Just like the strange musical interludes, for heaven's sake why? Is that funny? Is that supposed to be funny? Along with other droll things like the beetle getting stuck in the alley and de Vulture's slumbering fantasies/desires, Grijpstra and de Vulture very quickly start to become a vague and incoherent whole, half that, and we're talking about only 71 minutes, doesn't matter anymore.

Grijpstra en de Gier is a big name, but that will depend on the series. This film can best be skipped and will soon disappear from my memory.
