Een Vlucht Regenwulpen plot

Cell biologist Maarten is concerned with cloning, reproduction without involving sex. One night he dreams that he has only one week to live unless he manages to find a woman and have relations with her within that period. Because of his strict Calvinistic upbringing, an unrequited love and the adoration for his mother, Maarten is not very interested in women. His brutal alter ego forces him to do things he doesn't really have the courage to do. During the seven-day quest, Maarten recalls his most important childhood memories.

Incomprehensibly low average and moderate reactions, for this incredibly witty film. I haven't read the book (maybe that makes a difference). First of all, it is a thoroughly Dutch film (and in my backyard). Found Krabbe strong and found the screenplay very amusing. Underrated movie! 4 stars.

Mediocre movie. It is somewhat stereotypical and is not really new in terms of theme either.

Jeroen Krabbé and some of his "almost" conquests act funny.

An interesting film from our Dutch history in which Jeroen Krabbé convincingly portrays both roles, which are of course just the same character. The daredevil versus the shy professor.

The sometimes random winks to other films also stood out. In particular, the scene with The Blue Lagoon. The director just "thrown it in" but I like this kind of creativity.
And of course the lead character is similar to the Woody Allen role in Play it again, Sam.

The film has some sinking moments and the ending is a bit abrupt. Although the scene where the mother becomes visible under the sheet did impress.
The small role of a young Simone Kleinsma was also interesting, I think she could have had more scenes.

Nice video, not a masterpiece but interesting to say the least.

3*
