Het Zuiden plot

Martje (Monic Hendrickx) is the sympathetic mistress of a laundry. Her employees admire her. Except for the driver, they are all women, with a strong mutual solidarity. When the old driver retires, Loe (Frank Lammers) comes to apply. As a truck driver, he has driven south for years, but he would like to work for the laundry to be home more often. Loe and Martje feel irresistibly attracted to each other. The inevitable seems to be about to happen when Loe is summoned to her office. But the flirtation ends in a fiasco, because Loe is shocked by the fact that Martje is missing a breast because of breast cancer. Martje sees her dream disturbed and her employees, who see Loe storming away, draw their conclusions. Lies and misunderstandings lead to a dramatic series of events. When an illegal Russian teenager (Oksana Akinshina), mother of a newborn child arrives, Martje takes care of the baby.
