Funny movie, which has a particularly strong start but sags a bit once it gets back down to earth. Such trash is always fun, but I've seen faster-paced and sleazier ones.

2.5*

Thomerson is a fine actor and usually better than the films he stars in. This is the case here as well. It is a shame that he isn't given a bit more screen time; after all, the story isn't engaging, and neither is the rest of the cast. The short running time prevents it from becoming boring, but that is about all there is to say.

Full Moon Features presents a rather campy world where one-liners fly left and right. Director Albert Pyun largely focuses on creating likeable characters and Dollman himself, even though the latter never really manages to come across as cool. Tim Thomerson's performance is somewhat mediocre; his tough lines, in particular, come across poorly and rushed. Moreover, Pyun himself gives the impression that the production didn't have very long shooting days. Fortunately, Dollman delivers the action scenes in a bombastic and bloody manner, in which the protagonist's special weapons naturally come in handy. Furthermore, it is nice that this film was made at a time when Full Moon Features largely left computer effects alone, which makes it a lot more fun. It isn't all good—the story is too thin and the characters don't work for that—but it is entertaining.
