Evil Dead Burn plot
"Every family has its demons."
After the death of her husband, a woman seeks solace with her in-laws at their remote family home. There, they stumble upon an ancient book that transforms the family members into Deadites one by one, turning their gathering into a hellish family reunion. The woman subsequently discovers that the vows she made during her lifetime continue to live on even after her death.

Evil dead burn
I think the previous film was better, but it was certainly well made with a certain comedic touch; you do feel a certain absence of a specific character. There was only one thing that didn't add up and bothered me... Sure, the film isn't really believable in that it's real, but if you look past that, no, what was unbelievable is the moment Joseph the kid falls onto the garbage washing machine with many sharp objects piercing his back; if not dead, he will certainly bleed to death, and certainly shouldn't be able to throw himself into the action without a bloody back? This even before he himself is demonized.

A mediocre film about a woman who visits her in-laws and brother-in-law at their home after the death of her husband. Reasonably grim in tone and no shortage of blood and gore (especially the second half), but it didn't do much for me. The thin storyline and characters failed to captivate me at all. A barely passing 2.5 stars.

French director Sébastien Vaniček carries his qualities through to this next chapter in the Evil Dead universe. Given his heritage, he likely deliberately blended in some French influences, but it is primarily the modern techniques that elevate this film. Tight camerawork, excellent editing, and a number of deliciously gruesome effects are the main reasons for this. It is a bit of a shame that Vaniček also makes blatant use of computer effects, causing the finale in particular to come across as disappointing. Otherwise, it is an uninhibited horror feast with strong acting and a great feel for the genre. Filmmakers like this certainly deserve to be on the radar of every fan.
