When Stuart Sutcliffe decided to leave The Beatles in 1961, Paul McCartney was the only one willing to take on the role of bass guitarist. The distinctive sound of the Höfner he had designed was prominently featured on early hits such as 'All My Loving' and 'Day Tripper'. From 1963 onwards, he used a different bass guitar, and this Höfner served merely as a backup. Shortly after the breakup of The Beatles, this iconic bass guitar disappeared. More than 50 years later, a few 'bass hunters' are joining forces to find out who was responsible for its disappearance, in the hope of recovering the guitar. The search is not particularly exciting, but this is a rare opportunity to see McCartney reminisce about the early years of The Beatles and his relationship with the musical instruments that had a major influence on generations of bass guitarists.
