Jack Ryan, a Central Intelligence Agency analyst, discovers a suspicious series of bank transfers during his work. His search for answers takes him away from the safety of his desk and places him in the middle of a life-threatening cat-and-mouse game across Europe and the Middle East. Meanwhile, an emerging terrorist leader is preparing a large-scale attack on the United States and its allies.

The same distinctive style as the three-season series. Too much action (probably overdone to camouflage the lack of credibility) and too little suspense. It is like with lead actor Krasinski: he doesn't do a bad job, but it isn't exactly convincing either. In terms of plot, it is quite simplistic: there are very good people and a few bad people, and the good ones are allowed to mercilessly gun down the bad ones, even if the situation doesn't call for it. There is also a lot of annoying product placement; positive advertising hints about Dubai and Uber Eats just don't sit well with me. Qualitatively the weakest Jack Ryan film I have seen, in any case, but that probably won't bother the streaming service that initiated this: the revenue model seems secure, after all.

A decent action thriller. The story is a bit flat, and while the filmmakers try to make it complicated in their execution, it ultimately doesn't do it any favors. Additionally, they attempt to distract the viewer with a hefty dose of action, which is a good thing. The action is actually quite good and looks skillfully made. This keeps the pace going nicely, making the film easy to watch. Visually, it looks slick too, with beautiful shots of Dubai, among other places. Not a clever thriller, but perfectly watchable as an action film. 3.0/3.5
