A meritorious but ultimately not particularly remarkable HBO documentary focusing on the chain reaction that occurred in Japan following the earthquake and tsunami of March 11, 2011. The beginning, with spectacular, often unsettling images of the tsunami, is the most interesting; as soon as the more technical disaster at the nuclear power plant comes into play, it all becomes somewhat more abstract and less engaging.
