War Machine plot

During the final phase of the Ranger Selection Program, elite soldier 81 faces both physical exhaustion and the unresolved trauma of the Taliban attack that killed his brother. What was intended as a final 24-hour training exercise suddenly transforms into a deadly fight for survival when the group is attacked by an unknown, relentless enemy. Cut off from support, the recruits must fight with methods they were never trained for. As the group threatens to disintegrate, 81 is forced to accept his role as leader. Only by facing his past can he find a way to bring everyone back alive.

A good film about a soldier participating in a strict selection program for an elite group of soldiers. The film starts out as a fairly standard army film, but takes an unexpected twist with a sci-fi element. Entertaining from start to finish, and Alan Ritchson is well-cast in this adventurous, visually appealing action film. A close 3.5 stars.
