Steelworker Nangong Cheng is dying from a poisoned wound. Then he meets Zhang, a stranger with a mysterious ailment who seeks revenge after his wife is murdered. Cheng, as a member of a secret sect of martial artists and healers, seems able to help him.

Derrick usually needed an hour to solve any crime. This one took them a good three hours!
It seems like they simply forgot to edit the film... not entirely, because the film is quite well made, but with endless chatter that isn't particularly interesting.
This could easily have been made into a film of, say, half the time.
At the denouement, after 3 hours!, the pace suddenly increases considerably and the villains are taken out one by one in no time, the old-fashioned way.
I think Shao Pan, the protagonist-director, bit off more than he could chew…
The film takes itself a bit too seriously by explaining everything, and is also just a well-made B-movie at the same time.
