L'Odyssée Musicale de Kate Bush (2025)

This documentary doesn't offer a complete picture of the star, but it does reveal a great deal in just an hour. It's an ideal introduction to the star who has been shrouded in mystery from the very beginning. I have her biography in a book, which, of course, tells you even more. But if you want to know more about the woman behind Running Up That Hill, you should definitely watch this documentary.

The documentary provides a chronological account of the story behind and the career of Kate Bush. This is beautifully presented. However, the musical interludes between her songs, played by other (primarily French, I suspect) artists, work less for me. And despite the chronology, I still find it a somewhat chaotic documentary. I recently saw a documentary about Caravaggio, which I found much more beautifully presented. Granted, it is also nearly 40 minutes longer. I find 53 minutes far too short for such a miraculous artist, far ahead of her time, as Kate Bush! She was so much more than a singer. I can only have respect for someone who is so absorbed in her work and stands firm in what she wants to convey. It is a shame about the documentary being less impressive—at least for me.
