Holding Liat plot

On October 7, 2023, Liat Atzili and her husband, Aviv, were captured in Gaza. After 52 days of captivity, Liat was released. She was physically freed, but internally she was still trapped by her experiences. This documentary shows how Liat tries to cope with the trauma of her abduction. What begins as an account of various attempts to repatriate Liat and Aviv evolves into a portrait of a family struggling to remain human in an inhumane situation.

Liat and Avi were taken hostage by Hamas on October 7, 2023. Two weeks later, fellow filmmakers were given permission to follow Liat's family during this uncertain, frustrating period. Father Yehuda is highly critical of Netanyahu and the unconditional support he receives from the US, frustrating his mother Chaia, who fears that American policy will abandon them as a result. This is not a one-sided victim documentary, but a portrait of a family torn by the conflict between a sense of responsibility and a desire for revenge.
