House of Hope plot

In al-Eizariya, a city in the occupied West Bank near Jerusalem, Palestinian Manar and her husband, Milad, have founded a Waldorf school: House of Hope. This elementary school is based on Waldorf education, which embraces nonviolent resistance and helps children heal from trauma. In this way, Manar tries to offer young Palestinian students a safe haven, but this is becoming increasingly difficult.

House of Hope, a school in Palestine where children learn to treat each other with respect and to fight the occupying forces, Israel, with words, not violence. The documentary takes place primarily before the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023. When the attack is mentioned midway through the news, you can see the tension and fear rising among the population. It's a powerful sight, and it's a sad thought to now know that many of the children in the film are likely no longer alive.
