Not terribly annoying, with reasonably charming characters, but also a typical Christmas film that offers no surprises or special moments, and therefore, despite its short length, doesn't remain captivating for the full duration. 2.5 stars.

A typical, average Christmas movie. Not bad, not great. I don't think the humor and romance are particularly successful. The concept itself isn't bad; remember the 1993 comedy Mrs. Doubtfire with Robin Williams? There, he played Robin as a man, a female nanny. Well, here it's the other way around, with Alexandra Beckenbridge playing a male role, Santa Claus. The movie obviously doesn't reach the level of Mrs. Doubtfire, but it probably served as inspiration for this Christmas version.

The actors here are B-grade, but they don't do a terrible job. Not too much overacting, which I've seen worse in films of this caliber. And still, hats off to Alexandra as Santa Claus. You can hear and feel something's wrong, but she pulls it off anyway...

Thus the film did not bore me.

Don't expect too much, but there are worse.

3*

A romantic comedy with a Christmas atmosphere. It's unlikely to become a Christmas classic. A man and a woman are attracted to each other. Naturally, all sorts of obstacles stand in the way of love. The most significant obstacle is that the woman is posing as Santa Claus, and the potential love interest is the owner of the resort where Santa works. How exciting.

The humor, which primarily stems from the awkward situations the disguised woman finds herself in, is unimaginative. Not funny. The fact that Santa Claus is clearly a woman pretending to be a man is, strangely enough, unnoticed by any of the characters. This silliness, of course, fits perfectly into the story and the film's sweet atmosphere. The film is primarily that. Sweet, I mean. I'm therefore startled by a few scenes that address the complicated parent-teenage relationship. The film suddenly seems to want to dig a little deeper. It seems to want to give up some of its sweetness. Oh no, not at all. My fear is unfounded. Each scene is followed by a clichéd resolution that resolves everything. The resolution doesn't detract from the sweet atmosphere. Life is and remains simple.

Oh well, the film is no worse than most other films billed as Christmas romantic comedies. The content is nothing special. The plot is predictable. The characters are flat and sympathetic. Or are flat and a bit unsympathetic, but become sympathetic when they're touched by the sweet Christmas spirit.

The film's climax comes near the end. At the end, the woman plays a bit of rock 'n' roll on the guitar, clearly not actually using it. Oh well, I still got a good laugh.
