A rather unsubtle, yet highly entertaining action thriller from the capable hands of director Timur Bekmambetov, who delivers undeniably high-quality work. The rapid editing perfectly complements the futuristic concept, the mystery is kept alive, and the fast pace proactively banishes any sense of boredom. However, the fast-paced action prevents the cast from giving any good performances, meaning no one really gets going. In fact, Marco van Belle's screenplay relegates most of the actors to clichéd afterthoughts. Incidentally, artificial intelligence is fully embraced here, so viewers with a critical eye on that topic won't have a good time with Mercy.

Entertaining film about the dangers of AI. Easy to watch. Rebecca Ferguson's head on the big AI screen is also quite enjoyable.

Pretty good, especially because of the tight and consistent style (except for the last five minutes, that is) by continuously showing footage from existing cameras (security cameras, body cams, etc.). And the fact that it works is impressive. Especially since Pratt isn't allowed to leave that chair for a long time. That helps the film enormously, by the way, because we as viewers know just as little as an independent jury. 3.5*.
