In Prange, the story revolves around the people in an apartment complex. At the center of the film is the titular Prange: a solitary, grumpy, and withdrawn man who wants nothing to do with anyone. At least, that is the impression he creates. In reality, the surly Prange longs to be accepted by others. Unfortunately, Prange is not very skilled at interacting with people. He says and does just the wrong things and reacts awkwardly in front of others.
Prange is a comedy. The comedic element lies in Prange's behavior, which leads to some minor conflicts and awkward situations. Quite amusing, but not very funny. The humor is simply not original or sharp enough for that. Furthermore, the characterization is rather flat. It ends there with the development of a few striking character traits. Just enough effort has been made to attach the minimum required characteristics to the characters to evoke empathy. Just enough to make you sympathize and be amused.
Prange might sound like a mediocre film right now, but it isn't quite that. Prange is not a loud film. Prange is an understated film. And every now and then, the portrayal of the residents of an apartment complex evokes something more than just amusement. As the residents step out more and interact with one another over the course of the film, it repeatedly yields a touch of emotion. And sometimes even a modest laugh.
