A rather weak drama about a severely traumatized mother who has lost her son.

It never really gets exciting or interesting.

The lead actress (Lena Headey) played her role quite well, though.

but the story is nothing special

Mother Nance embarks on a sort of mission to uncover the truth about why her son died in the war in Afghanistan, dragging her into a spiral of justice against the American military complex. Because the government works for money, it knows no boundaries, such as the border where her son and others were sent to die, leaving single mothers trapped in a vicious cycle of violence. But don't worry, director Faust leaves no room for interpretation and will constantly remind you that he agrees the Taliban are the villains.

The film has its strong points, especially when it focuses on how this vulnerability is exploited by hate and paranoia, and how the internet, conspiracy theories, and people sow even more madness in the minds of these anger-blinded people. I can therefore largely agree with the opinion of Attention Required! | Cloudflare .

The film thus becomes an investigation into misplaced pain, but is subsequently overshadowed by a tone that leans towards a complicated revenge thriller. At one point, "Ballistic" chooses to focus the film on the unstable nature of this angry mother, thereby overlooking much that could be interesting.

The film does not forget to remind you that it aligns with pro-gun propaganda, while simultaneously carefully magnifying Nance's ever-changing moral compass. Unfortunately, the film seems to have absolutely no idea what it wants to do with all these elements. It appears to fail to recognize the value of the character Diana (Daughter-in-law), a fundamental angle for understanding Nance's descent into madness and the vicious cycle embedded in the story.

7+.
