Psychedelisch Pionieren plot

Alex works for the Dutch Railways (NS) and suffers from severe PTSD, having witnessed 36 suicides on the railway. Fimme is a former drug addict and struggles with an eating disorder. Both have searched for years for relief from their psychological suffering without success. Now they are turning their hopes to psychedelic therapy. In a vulnerable quest, they are trying to regain control of their lives through this method.

Former Dutch Railways conductor Alex suffers from PTSD due to witnessing 36 suicides on the railway. Fimme has a history of addiction, struggles with negative self-image, and has an eating disorder. Both men have undergone numerous mental health treatments, but without success. Separately, they decide to seek solace in psychedelic therapy. Under the guidance of a qualified specialist, they ingest a hallucinogen that "takes them on a journey" and is supposed to alleviate their mental health issues. Smeeke's attempts to visualize the experience are somewhat clumsy, but she deserves praise for her honest approach. She doesn't judge Alex, Fimme, or the choices they make. She merely records the lead-up to the psychedelic session and (in brief) its progression. Alex and Fimme offer their opinions afterward, leaving the viewer to form their own opinion.
