A beautiful, emotional film, as mentioned, about people who are essentially exploited and used as doormats. She does develop a special bond, with the annoying child, to me. So, this is about a maid who has to work for a family, where they take no account of her at all, essentially viewing her as a modern-day slave.
Perhaps a bit of a flawed comparison, but it reminds me a bit of Asian girls who move to the West with someone. Not out of love, but to support the whole family.
It didn't get the best reviews, but I thought it was a beautiful portrait with very solid acting, this film adaptation of a book.
