"Deliver us from evil."
A family hides in Roman Egypt. The son, known only as "the Boy," is stirred by another mysterious child and rebels against his protector, "the Carpenter." In doing so, he reveals inherent powers and a destiny beyond his comprehension. As he wields his own power, the boy and his family become targets of both natural and divine horrors.

Loosely based on the Infancy Gospel of Thomas, the film chronicles the life of you-know-who during the years not covered by the four official New Testament Gospels. The son in question discovers he has special gifts and isn't sure what to do with them. His father [Nicolas Cage] is tough on him, his mother [FKA twigs] protects him, and a mysterious stranger [Isla Johnston] wants to lead him in a dark direction. To avoid offending religious America too much, the three main characters remain nameless. You never know with those crazy religious fanatics over there, but I doubt they'll care much about this vague exploitation plot. Cage is (as usual) very intense.
