The reconstruction of the complications of the 5-year relationship between Charlie [Nick Robinson] and Harper [Emilia Jones] takes as its premise that partners remember the “middle part” of the relationship differently. However, ambiguity regarding chronology—partly because the main characters hardly change in appearance—and those shifting perspectives are confusing. Well acted and clearly written by someone knowledgeable, but only incidentally effective, particularly at the denouement.
