A year has passed since the supernatural nightmare at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza. The stories of what happened there have been twisted into a local legend, giving rise to the city's first-ever Fazfest. Former security guard Mike and police officer Vanessa have been hiding the truth about the fate of their animatronic friends from Mike's eleven-year-old sister, Abby. But when Abby sneaks out to reunite with Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, and Foxy, it sets in motion a terrifying chain of events that reveal dark secrets about Freddy's true origins and unleash a long-forgotten horror buried for decades.

Don't listen to the critics. Just like the previous installment, Five Nights at Freddy's 2 focuses on the games' fanbase. This worked out really well for me; there are tons of references to elements from the FNAF 2 video game.
With tons of action and scares, this movie surpasses part 1. If you've played the FNAF games, this movie is a must see.

A very messy sequel to its successful predecessor, which itself proved to be a mediocre affair. This second installment, however, is more suspenseful, with several atmospheric moments and effective (though often cheap) jump scares. The efforts of Jim Henson's Creature Shop thankfully remain a magical addition, bringing the robotic animals to life in legendary fashion. Unfortunately, the characters remain childish, and that remains the biggest flaw of this series. The emphatic focus on maintaining a PG-13 rating completely hinders the more daring moments, something this film unfortunately never overcomes. The rather bombastic finale salvages what can be salvaged, but the buildup is too simplistic, and several influences have clearly been dragged in to provide some kind of nonsensical explanation for the sequel. Especially that whole thing with the talking gadget they find in the ruin, you really can't do that these days.

Just like the first installment from 2023, I found this sequel quite entertaining, even though the story (which often feels messy) wasn't exactly great. The animatronic puppets were once again beautiful, and the marionette (by far the scariest creature) also made the film frequently suspenseful (especially when the young investigation team goes to "Freddy Fazbear's Pizza").
Furthermore, we see the same main characters as from the first part and I also liked that Newman (Wayne Knight) from "Seinfeld (1989–1998)" has a role as a Physics teacher and the same goes for Mckenna Grace from "Young Sheldon (2017–2024)".
And considering the ending, there will definitely be a third part and I will definitely watch that one too.

Mike's little sister Abby secretly returns to the pizzeria to see her animatronic friends, revealing dark secrets about Freddy's and unleashing a long-hidden horror.
What a disappointment. I didn't think much of the first film, but this sequel is even more disappointing. The film starts slowly, and I never really got into it. The story is confusing and disjointed, with too many subplots that get in each other's way.
The buildup of tension is almost entirely absent. Instead of a growing sense of menace, you get only a handful of cheap jump scares that make little impression. The acting is also unconvincing, partly due to the weak dialogue delivered by the cast.
Visually, there's still something to appreciate: the cinematography is polished and the practical animatronics are excellently designed. The music is also excellent, though it's not enough to salvage this chaotic sequel.
