Christy plot
Christy Martin was the first to break out in female boxing in the United States. In the 1990s, she became one of the most successful boxers. However, her success in the ring contrasted sharply with the demons she had to confront, both professionally and personally. She was abused by her husband and even feared for her life. However, Christy possessed a great deal of resilience and persisted.

Good film about a woman who manages to reach the top as a boxer. A biopic about Christy Martin. A beautiful story, but also fairly standard overall. The first half, which focuses on her boxing career, is the best. During the second half, dealing with domestic violence, it sometimes sags a bit. Sydney Sweeney, almost unrecognizable especially at the beginning, is convincing in the title role.

A completely unrecognizable Sidney Sweeney; not just the wig, but her entire appearance is completely different, down to every mannerism and movement—and perhaps most importantly, the ever-pouting look she usually has is nowhere to be found. No ditzy blonde with a thick chest, but a petite runt with too much energy for her plump body. What a brilliantly skillful role to play like this. Ben Foster is also quite good, and almost equally unrecognizable with his greasy greasy hair. Yet he is less convincing, although of course he has a much more thankless role to play as an unsympathetic jerk.
The story is equal parts absurd and you-know-it-is-true, quite apart from the fact that it is, of course, about real people, and that the story hardly seems embellished. But it is also so wacky, you couldn't make that up, and even if there was someone who could, why make a film about it?
Furthermore, it is simply a wonderful film that just tells a story without tricks, unnecessary aspirations, camera fumbling, or an intrusive soundtrack. What a breath of fresh air, actually.
