Preparation for the Next Life plot

"Love isn’t an escape, it’s a reason to keep going."

Uighur immigrant Aishe is undocumented and trying to build a life in New York after the hardships she experienced in China. She works in a restaurant while trying to master the language. Meanwhile, she recalls her past, where her family adheres to Islam and Aishe was trained by her military father. One day, she meets Skinner, a veteran, and they hit it off.
