"Love is a journey worth taking."
Heather has just finished her studies when she enjoys a vacation in Europe. On her trip, she meets the enigmatic Jack, with whom she immediately feels an attraction. The two quickly become a couple, but sense the end of their vacation approaching. Their own lives, unfolding across different continents, are therefore difficult to reconcile with a potential long-term relationship. Whatever their decision, Heather's life will change forever because of Jack.

A decent film about three American friends traveling through Europe. A somewhat saccharine romantic drama with predictable characters that otherwise does what it's supposed to. It never becomes tedious, thanks in part to the beautiful locations that pass by.

Director Lasse Hallström hasn't lost the art of cinematic direction in his old age, but his latest project from Amazon Prime is a bit of a failure. "The Map That Leads to You" is very clever in its depiction of emotions, and the chemistry between KJ Apa and Madelyn Cline never really takes off. Separately, these two actors expertly portray their clichéd characters, but they never truly connect. Hallström warmly portrays several Spanish backgrounds, and the film opens smoothly, but once the romance emerges, the film falls a bit flat. It's also a shame that the final European journey is limited to just one country.
