"The origin story of one of literature’s greatest heroes."
1815. Jean Valjean is released from prison after nineteen years of hard labor. Anger, a sense of injustice, and the violence he has endured have turned him into a dangerous animal who no longer trusts anyone or anything. One evening, after being rejected many times, he seeks refuge with a priest. Monseigneur Bienvenu lives there with his sister and a single servant. Surprised by the warmth of the welcome, Jean Valjean's criminal convictions are shaken. He will have to choose between the definitive actions inspired by his hatred of the world and accepting the outstretched hand.
