not a great film but good enough for a drizzly day.

A decent film about an ex-convict on the run with his daughter. A thin plot for this gritty crime drama that centers on the father-daughter relationship. And that relationship delivers some beautiful moments (thanks largely to the acting). Unfortunately, some things feel rather forced (like the daughter's own role). A mere 3.0 stars.

I think more could have been done with this film. The acting is excellent, especially the girl's. Although I did think she came across a bit too mature for a 10-year-old. The story isn't great, but I think if they had developed the father-daughter relationship a bit more, it would have been less tedious and there would have been a bit more emotion. The ending could have been a bit more satisfying as well. Still, it's certainly not a bad film.
