Ema a Smrtihlav plot

Hungarian widow and seamstress Marika lives near the Slovakian-Hungarian border during the turbulent years of World War II. With her husband missing and her job at a Jewish tailor lost due to the deportation of Jews to German-occupied Poland, Marika must run the family farm on her own. Her world is turned upside down even more when she discovers a Jewish boy hiding in her barn – a discovery that could cost them both their lives.

joolstein sums it up well. I don't have much more to add to that. Considering the history, it is an interesting film because the focus is on semi-independent Slovakia during World War II, where the Germans were in charge. I found the worries of the young woman, who tries to save that child and is also attacked by an SS'er and a Slovak fascist, quite moving at times. I could sympathize with the worries and fears of that woman and that boy, but it is all shown very distantly and also in shades of gray, apparently to symbolize the past. You see that more often. Well, the sun was shining then too and the colors were the same as we see now. Difficult film to judge.
