Hua Yang Shao Nv Sha Ren Shi Jian plot
Figure skater Jiang struggles with her athletic ambitions under the watchful eye of her cruel coach and mother Wang. At the ice rink, she finds a kindred spirit in Zhong, a worker who also, but secretly, has a talent for skating. However, tensions rise when Wang starts training Zhong.

Great.
It was somewhat reminiscent of Perfect Blue (and therefore also Black Swan), but Jinghao manages to strike a unique balance between drama and thriller. It's mainly the styling that makes it a true thriller, while the plot and what you see on screen are more pure drama. That's a rather peculiar sensation, but I thought it worked quite well.
Visually stunning, the soundtrack is also strong, and the performances are certainly on par. Jinghao proves to be a director with immense talent and potential. While at first glance it certainly isn't the most unique film, I still found it quite idiosyncratic. I'm curious to see more of this director's work.
