Some background knowledge is almost essential to fully appreciate House on Eden, because then you quickly discover that director and lead actress Kris Collins is also a paranormal investigator in real life. In that respect, it's a self-aware horror film that, of course, spirals out of control towards the end. The location looks atmospheric, but Collins doesn't go much further than the usual jump scares and a bunch of unsympathetic characters who constantly get in each other's way. It's short enough, all things considered, but the plot twist is utterly ridiculous, and the final result lacks suspense.
