I thought it was another fantastic film. The surprise element wasn't as great, but I still enjoyed it immensely!

I didn't particularly enjoy either of the previous films. They were mostly annoying and unbelievable. But today was such a dreary, gray day, I'd already taken a long walk outside, and there was no sports or anything on TV. So I went to the cinema anyway, because I'm quite comfortable there in the dark without much stimulation, and this thing was the only one playing that I hadn't seen yet (unless it was a Sinterklaas movie, which I definitely didn't want).

Now, I have to say: this isn't great cinema, but for a long time it was still okay. I think Pike is a fine actress, and she fits well here as the evil businesswoman and villain on duty, and the rest of the cast (although it does get quite large) didn't immediately irritate me. The magic tricks don't do much for me, even if it's just that I'm watching a film (and even apart from that, I didn't believe them either). Visually, it's also a bit dull; the camera is mainly used to frame the story, but did I see anything that had any inspiration or even resembled an artistic choice?

It's all moving along nicely now, but the final act drags on too long and simply felt beyond my suspension of disbelief, and that's where the score dropped quickly. 1.5*.

A decent film in which the theft of a large diamond reunites the group of illusionists. Despite the fine, young addition to the cast, the characters fail to truly captivate. The heist scenes are entertaining, and the Escher-inspired segment looks particularly good. This sequel is more of the same, but it's an improvement on the previous installment.
