Eagles of the Republic plot
George is one of the most beloved actors in Egypt. However, he falls from grace and is forced to play a part in a film that is being made on behalf of the government. Since he is about to lose everything, George agrees to the role. He meets the mysterious wife of the general, who is supervising the filming, with whom he begins an affair.

Egypt's biggest movie star, George Fahmy [Fares Fares], overreaches himself during the filming of a biographical epic about the 1979 revolution; a hymn to the existing regime. When he expresses his frustration with the script and the direction, a producer [Amr Waked] already warns him of the consequences of his star-like behavior. George realizes too late that he has landed in a hornet's nest and makes matters even more difficult for himself by flirting with the wife [Zineb Triki] of the Minister of the Interior. It begins as a slow, conventional soap-opera-style drama and abruptly transforms into a political thriller in the final half-hour. Khoudri has a thankless role as George's much younger girlfriend in this well-produced but meandering mix of drama and thriller.
