Sirât plot
Louis goes to Morocco with his son Stéphane in search of his missing daughter Marina. They join a group of ravers who in turn are looking for the next party. Together they undertake a journey that takes them deep into the desert. In the middle of the sand, the attendees reach their personal limits.

Luis [Sergi López] and his grandson [Bruno Núñez Arjona] are searching for their daughter, who may have joined a rave gang. He joins a group that regularly organizes raves in remote desert locations. Not so much a story, but more a portrait of a man coping with his daughter's disappearance and of people who, through dancing, can completely surrender to the moment. The melodramatic ending is a lazy cop-out and probably (unintentionally?) hilarious, not just for me. The title refers to a mythological bridge connecting heaven and hell. A big winner at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival. Just so you know…

It's a shame about the beautiful cinematography and daring score, because it's hard to empathize with a man's lost mission to search for his lost daughter in the Moroccan desert among raving nomads.
I've often seen events later in the film described as emotional gut punches, but I missed the connection with the main characters to share that experience, which is why the course of events, filled with strange choices and negligence, does indeed work a bit on the funny bone after a while.
Perhaps the film on the big screen can numb the pain points somewhat and achieve its effect through sensory channels, but the content itself is too limited to truly move. The abrupt, meaningless ending also makes the film feel somewhat aimless.
The setting and cinematography are impressive, but ultimately disappointing. 2.5*

A daring film that didn't entirely convince me, but is certainly intriguing enough to keep me captivated for a full runtime. The rave vibe, the accompanying soundtrack, and the uncanny journeys through the desert... I enjoyed it all. And the tone, which shifts drastically several times throughout the film: it doesn't always work perfectly, but it does feel refreshing.
