Deaf Ángela and her partner Héctor are expecting a child. After the birth of their daughter, they face many challenges and find themselves in a crisis. And that can only be determined with certainty several months after the birth! This psychological drama captures the growing tension during the period of uncertainty and beyond. Libertad keeps the pace very slow, but the engaging performances by Garlo and Cervantes and a remarkable final act make it worthwhile.

An excellent film about a deaf woman and her hearing partner who are having a baby. A film about the world of hearing and hearing loss (and how polarizing it can be), where communication is central. How beautiful it can be, but also sometimes frustrating (like the birthing scene). A beautiful, subtle performance by Miriam Garlo and a moving ending. Easily 4.0 stars.
