Day Tripper plot

On an ordinary day in a city in Northern China, people are fighting for their lives as usual. A middle-aged man sees his position replaced by a younger one. The man's wife wants a new life. High school students sit in a daze in the schoolyard. And a young teacher tries to change the traditional education system. At a remote bus stop, people wait for the bus all day long. Little do they know, the bus will never stop there. A barbershop owner forces the barbers to go out on the street to grab customers. In the same way, a barbecue shop owner transforms his shop into a nightclub...

Picked up from the China film festival in Ghent. Quite a strange film that covers a day in the life of an ordinary man in a snowy Chinese city under construction. Actually quite comical in design with a number of absurd situations, but a real plot cannot be unraveled.

Almost the entire film is filmed with a static camera. The film also contains almost no conversations. If there is any conversation, it is mostly one-liners. Often they gape at each other without uttering a word.

A film that feels fragmented because the characters are changed without a link between them. I thought the man with the closet was the best scene. A real loser, great!
