Yellow Margarine plot

The film is about 10 characters (nine people and one animal) who explore themselves through interaction with each other in an imaginary town. The story describes their uniqueness, loneliness, struggle and affection. A single mother, Saaya Ogawa, is a former idol and is in love with her new boyfriend, and her daughter Jewel has questioned her relationship with Saaya, as a parent and child. Yasuo Kida is something like a stalker who has been in love with Saaya for a long time, and his mother, Fujiko Kida, is a victim of fraud who grows mysterious flowers. The other characters also have a special dream, various loves and unbridled self-affirmation intertwined.

Funny.

But then you really have to like Japanese humor, because they don't come much more typical than this. It's a shame that the budget was rather limited, although it is sometimes quite charming to see how Ryoto solved that.

Absurd and dry, but also clearly a comedy on all levels. A lot of storylines that cross each other, but in the end it is a series of sketches with minimal plot. Not too many of these types of comedies are produced, so one to cherish.
