DJ Ahmet plot
Ahmet is a 15-year-old shepherd with dreams bigger than his family’s flock. Ahmet’s life is a monotonous loop of herding sheep and harvesting tobacco, with the only escape being the pulsating synths of electronic music. Ahmet’s father is as stuck in a rut as a record stuck on a scratched groove. After Ahmet’s mother dies, he pulls his son out of school and ties him to the farm and the suffocating rhythms of rural life. But Ahmet’s heart beats to a different beat, one filled with secret raves in the woods and dreams of spinning tracks with the girl next to the barn.

Footloose is set in rural Macedonia, where shepherd boy Ahmet [Arif Jakup] dreams of a career as a DJ and equips a tractor with a sound system. He hopes to impress Aya [Dora Akan Zlatanova], who is preparing with some friends for a modern dance performance at a traditional festival. Young and old, or traditional versus modern, are pitted against each other in an entertaining but predictable story with two protagonists who lack charisma. The running joke with the muezzin is amusing.
