Ein Großes Versprechen plot
Juditha and Erik, a married couple in their sixties, are confronted with Juditha's illness. They must deal with the shame and disappointment that comes with it, but also with the expectations and ever-changing hopes. The couple will have to rediscover the foundation of their marriage in order to find each other again.

I was drawn to the film by the leading role of Rolf Lassgard. This is not Under Solen (Film, 1998), but all in all it is a fascinating film about how a couple views the decline of a woman with MS. And the man is not free of his ailments either. Where in the opening scene(s) you get the feeling that the two have a harmonious empathic relationship, that feeling crumbled after a while. I mainly had the idea that the man wanted to decide all by himself how his wife should be helped (wheelchair, home help) without even informing his wife about it.
That doesn't work of course, although the emphasis of the film wasn't so much on that. The film meanders along and I especially enjoyed the acting. In my opinion, the script could have been stronger or more penetrating. Not bad and just the benefit of the doubt. It also says something that I had to add this film and that it is hardly known.
