Semret plot
Semret, a single mother, works in a local hospital in Zurich. She does everything she can to guarantee her daughter Joe a better life. When Semret is wrongly accused in the hospital, she stands up for her rights, so as not to lose everything she loves.

A virtually unknown Swiss film about migration and integration. It is also clear why this film is unknown. The film lacks conviction and just meanders along. The film focuses on Semret, a hard-working nurse of Eritrean descent. She has to fight to gain her place in the hospital as a midwife. And on a private level she struggles with her teenage daughter who increasingly wants to lead her own life.
Being overprotective of your children is never good and neither is keeping quiet about the difficult past. It makes Semret lose control over her daughter a little. But it is all rather tame and unspectacular. It just meanders along there in Zurich, Switzerland, uneventful, unmemorable. One that will soon be forgotten.
