Luz plot
Wei embarks on a quest in Chongqing to find his estranged daughter Fa. Ren is a gallery owner in Hong Kong with a sick stepmother in Paris. Their paths cross in the virtual world, where a mystical deer reveals some hidden truths. What follows is a journey of discovery and a certain sense of connection.

Nice.
Nice to see some real arthouse from Hong Kong again, although there is some interference from China and France also helps a bit to keep the connection alive. The latter mainly thanks to the location of one of the stories (Paris) and Isabelle Huppert. Unfortunately, also the weakest link in this film.
Visually a real gem, the acting (nice to see Pinna at work again) is strong, and although the two stories don't seem to have too much in common, they both manage to convince. It won't single-handedly get the Hong Kong film industry back on track, but I did enjoy it, and hopefully it inspires other local directors to show a bit more daring again. It's time for a revival there.
