I persevered until the friendly couple came to the house. Then things really got out of hand...

Men are scoundrels. And women who discover this are wild furies. Molly Gordon is one such fury. She plays Iris, a character who's on a romantic vacation with her boyfriend, Isaak, in a cabin far from civilization. When Isaak blurts out that he doesn't consider their relationship a committed one and that he occasionally plays around with other women, Iris is deeply disappointed. Her cloud darkens, and suddenly, her fury flares up. She'll prove to him that she's the one for him. And she does it in an unorthodox and furious way.

I knew Molly Gordon from Theater Camp. Beautiful woman and (obviously) more importantly, a good actress. Later in the film, Geraldine Viswanathan also makes an appearance. I'm glad. Before that happens, Iris is still working on her unorthodox method of securing her boyfriend. Iris gets completely carried away and becomes increasingly frightening. She's every bit as impressive as Kathy Bates in Misery. I'll check the genre again. It definitely says Comedy. Hmm. Director and writer Sophie Brooks has also noticed the genre designation and immediately abandons the thriller vibes. She drags the film back into a lighter mood. I wish she hadn't.

The humor lies mainly in the situation that arises after Iris's world collapses. And that situation does indeed provide some amusement for a while. Unfortunately, Iris's actions, which initially seem intelligent, eventually become so silly that the humor is no longer present. I started to find Iris a bit annoying. The forced effort to maintain lightheartedness and humor certainly didn't create lightheartedness or humor. The arrival of Geraldine Viswanathan makes the journey to the end credits more palatable.

A decent film about a newlywed couple going on their first weekend getaway. A simple premise, set largely in one house. A decent first half, but it gradually becomes more ridiculous and superficial. Logan Lerman and especially Molly Gordon deliver an entertaining performance.
