Young idealistic dreamer John Allen Chau wants to escape the clutches of his strict father. He also has an irresistible urge for adventure and a deeply religious soul. So he sets off on a mission to North Sentinel Island. He believes he can convert the isolated tribe that lives there to Christianity. A decent drama. The story is based on a true story and is well-developed by Lin. The structure is good, and the use of time jumps keeps the film captivating. Lin seems to only want to combine drama with adventure. As a result, the film doesn't achieve the depth the subject deserves. Visually, the film is very successful. Good camerawork and beautiful colorful images are a true feast for the eyes. The acting, especially by Yang and Apte, is also excellent. 3.0/3.5

Inspired by a camp for young missionaries, teenager John Chau (Sky Yang) decides to take the Holy Message to North Sentinel Island, a protected island where the original inhabitants (consequently) don't welcome prying eyes.
