Wunderschöner plot
The film focuses on five women who no longer want to base their lives and self-worth on being desirable. The most important thing is sexy - it doesn't matter if you're thin, fat, what skin color, young or old, we can all be sexy in different ways. Almost every woman grows up knowing that she has to work on herself to remain desirable. Why? What if we stopped pushing ourselves so hard into a sexy pose? What if we stopped fighting for the right to be sexy and started being truly free? What if we stopped investing all our time and energy into being heard and the world started hearing us?

The film is a sequel to Wunderschön. I didn't know that, but I could have deduced it from the title, of course. I don't know what the first film is about. And after seeing Wunderschöner, I don't really feel the need to find out. Wunderschöner is, in any case, about women who no longer want to submit to the sexual needs of men. They make that clear in an anthology film.
In various interconnected storylines, a different woman takes center stage, and the theme of toxic masculinity plays a major role. You know, that detestable image presented to young teenagers of the man who never sheds tears and is only interested in the pursuit of women. In this film, most women are fortunate, because here we see practically only well-behaved men politely asking women if they can be kissed. In the world of director Karoline Herfurth, the toxic aspect of masculinity is all but eradicated. And when that masculinity does rear its head, the man's behavior is, of course, condemned without any form of perspective. Consequently, the film isn't very exciting.
In the film, the women experience some unpleasant things, which certainly have to do with male flaws, but which, mainly due to their overly drawn-out nature, are never very interesting. The relationship crises often feel rather banal and forced. The fact that the characters are rather superficial and actually quite boring certainly doesn't help to enhance the experience. Towards the end, the feel-good factor also feels very forced. The film concludes on a rather saccharine note, and it's no wonder that all the stories have a satisfying ending. Yuck.
