The Day Iceland Stood Still plot

On October 24, 1975, 90 percent of Icelandic women ran away—refusing to work, cook, or care for their children. They brought the entire country to a standstill and helped establish Iceland as the “best place in the world to be a woman.” Pamela Hogan tells the first-ever documentary about this historic day from the perspective of the women involved, accompanied by playful animation and a sense of humor.

A beautiful documentary about a milestone in Icelandic patriarchy, which has made Iceland one of the most gender-equal countries in the world. Highly recommended.
